Alfred Hitchcock: Pure Cinema

Book Design
Editorial Direction

This project was created at The Cooper Union for the class Advanced Typography and Book Design taught by Jesse Johanning. It is a speculative monograph imagining an expanded edition on Alfred Hitchcock's approach to style and "pure cinema." The interview reprint, foreword excerpt, and visual treatment represent a design exercise, not an authorized published edition.

Hitchcock’s signature was incorporated into the cover design as a mark of authorship.

Venus Bold, used by Saul Bass in his title design for Psycho, is carried into the book as the primary display typeface.
Helvetica provides the body text, maintaining a clear editorial structure.
